Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has heaped praise on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following the teenager’s stunning performance in the 2026 Under-19 World Cup final. Sooryavanshi produced a remarkable innings of 175 runs from just 80 balls against England, playing a crucial role in India’s title-winning campaign.
Speaking on Aakash Chopra’s podcast, Jurel discussed Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise and the impression he has already made on Indian cricket. The India batter admitted that comparing his own journey with Sooryavanshi’s achievements would make little sense, given the extraordinary level of cricket the teenager has produced at such a young age.
“He deserves all the praise. What he does is something you can’t even dream of. A 15-year-old kid smashing everybody. It’s just WOW,” Dhruv Jurel said. He also made it clear that there was no jealousy involved, insisting there was simply no realistic comparison between the two batters.

Jurel further explained how Sooryavanshi’s fearless approach, particularly during the Powerplay, can inspire other Indian batters. According to him, watching the youngster attack bowlers so aggressively gives teammates greater confidence to adopt a similar attacking mindset when they get their opportunity.
Sooryavanshi’s explosive batting has quickly become one of the talking points in Indian cricket. The left-handed top-order batter has already attracted significant attention despite being only 15, with his ability to dominate the Powerplay standing out as a major strength. He can also contribute with his left-arm orthodox spin when required.
The teenager is currently part of India’s T20I squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, where he is expected to make an impact before India’s five-match T20I series against West Indies in October.

Meanwhile, Jurel is preparing to return to international action with India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies. The first ODI is scheduled to be played in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, giving Jurel another opportunity to strengthen his place in India’s white-ball setup.
