Former India batter Ajinkya Rahane believes Virat Kohli is at his best when he puts pressure on himself, suggesting that the star batter could have his eyes on the elusive milestone of 100 international centuries. Kohli currently has 86 international hundreds and has been in impressive form in ODIs. He has scored four centuries in his last 10 ODI innings, strengthening his position among the leading century-makers in international cricket.
Kohli already holds the record for the most ODI centuries, although he still has ground to cover in the overall international tally. Speaking on Cricbuzz, Rahane said there would be nothing unusual if Kohli was thinking about reaching 100 international centuries, particularly given his admiration for legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar.
“I think when Virat Kohli puts pressure on himself, that’s when he is at his best. In every innings, he has done that. He has those expectations of himself. That’s why he has been able to do it consistently for so many years,” Ajinkya Rahane said.

Rahane added that Kohli’s ambition could be linked to Tendulkar, who finished his career with 100 international centuries.

The West Indies series opener also saw Kohli become only the second batter to score 15,000 ODI runs. However, the former India captain insisted that reaching personal milestones has never been his primary objective.

“My focus has never really been on these milestones, so to speak. It is just understanding the situation along the course of just doing the job for the team, whatever,” Kohli said. He added that he feels “very grateful” to have played international cricket for such a long period. India subsequently took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after a comprehensive all-round performance in Thiruvananthapuram.
