Virat Kohli has moved up to second place in the latest ICC men’s ODI batting rankings, closing the gap on India captain Shubman Gill, who remains at the top. Kohli’s rise comes after his sensational unbeaten 139 against West Indies in the opening ODI of the ongoing series. Kohli’s 55th ODI century came off just 88 balls and included nine sixes, helping India secure a comfortable eight-wicket victory. His latest performance lifted his rating to 796 points, leaving him only 20 points behind Gill, who has 816.
Gill also strengthened his position at the top after scoring a century in the same match. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell occupies third place with 794 points, while former India captain Rohit Sharma remains fourth on 719. September 27 was also a remarkable day for ODI cricket, with six centuries recorded in men’s ODIs around the world.
Along with Kohli and Gill, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, David Miller, West Indies batter Justin Greaves and England’s Tom Banton also reached three figures. Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis was another major mover in the batting rankings. His impressive 121 off 100 balls against England helped him climb three places to a career-best seventh. Although Mendis’ performance helped Sri Lanka level the three-match series, England eventually won the contest 2-1.

Joe Root remains England’s only batter inside the top 10, sitting ninth. Captain Harry Brook climbed one place to 11th after scoring 77 in the third ODI, which England won by 223 runs.

Bavuma made a significant jump of 10 places to 32nd despite having played only 10 ODIs. Miller moved to 41st, while Banton recorded the biggest rise in the latest update. The England batter climbed 333 places to 83rd following his impressive performances, although he remains outside the top 80.
There were also notable changes in the ODI bowling rankings. South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj moved up three places to third after taking 2/54 and 4/20 in the series against Australia.

India’s Kuldeep Yadav climbed four places to fifth following his match-winning 4/40 against West Indies. Meanwhile, Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood returned to the top 10 after taking four wickets in the opening two ODIs against his side’s opponents, moving up five places to tenth.
