Abhishek Sharma produced a sensational batting display for India in the Asian Games 2026 final against Pakistan at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday, October 3. The left-handed opener scored a blistering 61 off just 28 deliveries after India won the toss and elected to bat first.

Abhishek wasted little time attacking the Pakistan bowling attack. He reached his half-century from only 20 balls, bringing up the milestone with a towering six against Ahmed Daniyal. His aggressive innings eventually ended at 61 off 28 balls, giving him a remarkable strike rate of 217.86.
India had lost Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sanju Samson during the powerplay, but Abhishek’s counterattack ensured Pakistan could not build sustained pressure. His fearless strokeplay provided India with the momentum needed on a surface where batting was not entirely straightforward.

The 26-year-old also responded strongly after a quiet outing in India’s semi-final against Sri Lanka. Abhishek was dismissed for seven in that match but contributed with the ball, taking two wickets as India bowled Sri Lanka out for just 45 while defending 170.

Pakistan’s fielding, however, gave Abhishek several opportunities to extend his stay. He was dropped twice by Saim Ayub and also survived a run-out chance before eventually being dismissed by Arafat Minhas.
The breakthrough came in the eighth over when Abhishek charged down the pitch looking for another big shot. He failed to make contact, allowing wicketkeeper Usman Khan to complete the stumping.
Despite his dismissal, Abhishek had already done significant damage. His 61-run assault gave India a strong platform after the early wickets and allowed the middle order to take the innings forward.

At the time of the report, India had reached 128/3 after 20 overs, with Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan at the crease. Abhishek’s explosive contribution kept India in a strong position in the high-profile Asian Games final.

This is a genius knock from Abhishek Sharma!
He’s understood the pitch and picking on everything that’s short of good length and dispatching it in the V.
He might’ve already played the innings that will decide the game.
