Virat Kohli has strongly denied claims made by Falahari Maharaj Dinesh Sharma regarding his visits to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan. The former India captain’s spokesperson described the allegation that Kohli was paid ₹5 crore for visiting the spiritual leader’s ashram as “completely false, baseless and factually incorrect.”

Dinesh Sharma had claimed that Kohli received ₹5 crore to visit Premanand Maharaj’s ashram. However, Kohli’s spokesperson issued a firm clarification, stating that the cricketer’s association with the spiritual leader is based entirely on personal faith and respect.

“We would like to categorically state that the claims made by Falahari Maharaj Dinesh Sharma in regards to Mr. Virat Kohli are completely false, baseless and factually incorrect,” Virat Kohli’s spokesperson said in an official statement.

The spokesperson further explained that Kohli’s visits to Premanand Maharaj are motivated by his personal beliefs rather than any financial arrangement. “Mr. Virat Kohli visits Premanand Maharaj Ji purely out of his deep faith and reverence for Maharaj Ji,” the statement added.

Kohli’s team also urged media organisations and journalists to verify information before reporting or amplifying such allegations. The spokesperson stressed the importance of responsible reporting, particularly when claims concern a public figure.

Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have visited Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan on several occasions. The cricketer, meanwhile, has significantly reduced his international commitments after retiring from both Test and T20I cricket and now represents India only in ODIs.

Kohli was recently part of India’s ODI series against West Indies, where he began with an impressive century. He scored an unbeaten 139 in the opening match in Trivandrum but could not maintain the same consistency, managing 29 in Guwahati before being dismissed for a golden duck in New Chandigarh.

The 37-year-old is expected to return to action during India’s upcoming five-match ODI series against New Zealand, beginning November 4. Virat Kohli has also indicated that the 2027 ODI World Cup could be his final World Cup appearance for India. He said the opportunity to compete in what he considers his last World Cup is a major source of motivation, with winning the tournament remaining his ultimate goal.
