During the 16th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Mohali, Kings XI Punjab’s Chris Gayle continued from where he left in the first match that he played in the season.
Ravichandran Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, had won the toss and chose to bat. Seldom has any captain taken the decision of winning the toss and choosing to bat in this season of the IPL.
Gayle, who had earlier welcomed Rashid Khan with a couple of sixes in his first over, was more severe against the teenage leg-spin bowler in his third over. In which was the 14th over of the innings, Gayle hit Rashid Khan for 27 runs.

On the second delivery of the over, Gayle hit the first six over long-off. Facing a considerable amount of pressure, Rashid Khan followed it up with a short ball, which Gayle hit straight at the sight screen.
Gayle continued to disrespect one of the best T20 bowlers in the bowlers. On the next ball, he hit another effortless towering six over the sight screen. Gayle followed it up with another monumental six through the midwicket area as the bowled lookes helpless.
