The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly shifted the opening ODI of India’s upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka from New Delhi to Ahmedabad. The venue change comes ahead of the visitors’ scheduled tour of India in December, although an official confirmation from the board is still awaited. According to a report by Jagran News, the first ODI was originally scheduled to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on December 13.

However, ongoing construction work at the venue has reportedly prompted the BCCI to move the match to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sri Lanka are scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is during their tour of India. The series will begin with the ODI leg before the teams meet in the three-match T20I series. India’s home assignment against Sri Lanka will follow the team’s multi-format tour of New Zealand in October and November.

Meanwhile, the BCCI is preparing for the next edition of the Indian Premier League, with a key meeting scheduled to take place in Mumbai on October 15. The discussions are expected to focus on the organisation of IPL 2027, which will mark the tournament’s 20th season.

The board has reportedly invited representatives from all IPL franchises, including team owners and chief executive officers, along with state cricket associations that have hosted matches and the tournament’s broadcasters. According to a BCCI source, the meeting will provide an opportunity to review issues encountered during previous seasons and discuss measures to improve the organisation and execution of the competition.

State cricket associations are expected to play an important role in the discussions, particularly regarding stadium operations, match-day coordination and logistical challenges. Their feedback could help the board identify areas requiring improvement before the next season begins.

Franchise representatives and broadcasters will also have the opportunity to share their concerns and suggestions. The objective is to improve coordination among the various stakeholders and ensure smoother tournament operations in 2027.  The upcoming IPL season represents a significant milestone for the tournament, which has grown into one of the leading competitions in franchise cricket since its launch in 2008.
