Former India player turned commentator Aakash Chopra has said that Team India should strengthen their bowling attack in the third T20I against the West Indies with an additional seamer. While stating that the hosts have the option to play Ravi Bishnoi, he added that they wouldn’t want to do that in potentially dewy conditions as well. The third T20I of the five-match series will take place in Indore on Sunday, October 11 as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Since this is a small ground and the pitch is extremely flat, you assume that it will be a high-scoring encounter, and if dew comes later, it almost becomes a graveyard for the bowlers. In such a scenario, should the Indian team think about one more fast bowler?. Too many spin options aren’t there for you to bring in another wrist-spinner with Kuldeep Yadav. Ravi Bishnoi is there, but you wouldn’t want to play him because how would you play two leg-spinners if you get to bowl second? The ball will get wet, and both will get stuck.”

“Naman Dhir didn’t have a huge role as a bowler in the previous match. He might not have a big role as a bowler in this match either. Once again a small ground, and dew could be a factor. He picked up three wickets in the first match for sure, but no one is getting to bat at the number he bats. Can you leave him out in such a scenario? Can you play Prince Yadav in his place? It’s a slightly left-field selection because Naman Dhir hasn’t done anything wrong. However, is that a possibility, because in bat-vs-bat contests, a potent bowling spell changes the match?” he shared.

However, Aakash Chopra shared hope that Abhishek Sharma plays a stunning knock in the third T20I against the West Indies.

“One great expectation I have from this match is Abhishek Sharma. Varma ji (Tilak Varma) hit in the previous match, and my heart says Sharma ji should hit in this match. The kind of starts Abhishek Sharma is getting – I mean, he is batting beautifully,” he said. “He has gotten out to Roston Chase twice, but this time, I am hoping Abhishek Sharma makes a Rudra-Abhishek start and then plays a big knock. If he plays a big knock, a lot of runs can be scored,” he concluded.
