Wasim Jaffer applauded West Indies skipper Shai Hope following their 24-run win over India at Rajiv Gandhi International
Stadium, Hyderabad, on Wednesday. His unbeaten 102 off 50 helped the visitors level the five-match series 2-2. Hope has shown great form on the tour, smashing four centuries across three ODIs and four T20Is. Jaffer added that Hope was hailed as a Test batter early in his career due to his technical prowess as well.

He said in his latest YouTube video: “He was initially considered a Test player because he is technically very good. But I think he has elevated his game a lot. He has so many centuries in ODIs as well. People don’t know that he has 20 hundreds. If you ask who watches cricket, he might not know that Shai Hope has 20 hundreds in ODIs. He has taken it to another level in T20 cricket this series.”
“A lot of the IPL teams will be very interested in him because he is also a wicketkeeper and a captaincy option. His T20 batting has gone up a notch. It’s not easy to be so consistent in T20 because you play such a high-risk game. But he already has two hundreds in four T20Is,” he shared again.

Wasim Jaffer stated Team India pacer Mayank Yadav erred tactically by overusing short-pitched balls in the 24-run loss to West Indies at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on Wednesday, October 14 as well.

“He overdid the short ball. There were five wides too when he tried to bowl a short ball. It looked like they were expecting it, and they got a kick-start with the 20-run over. We did not bowl the way we should have with the new ball. The short ball was overused, especially by Mayank Yadav,” he shared.
“Sanju batted brilliantly. Unfortunately, he got out; otherwise, he rarely gets out after scoring 50-55. Sanju gave us the momentum we needed in the powerplay, but unfortunately, Abhishek could not kick on. Abhishek likes to have the strike in the powerplay,” Wasim Jaffer concluded.
