Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has backed T Natarajan’s return to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), stating that the trade is a smart move ahead of the 2027 season as well. On October 14, Natarajan’s move to SRH from Delhi Capitals (DC) was announced at a revised salary of ₹5 crore, while Zeeshan Ansari joined DC for his existing fee of ₹40 lakh.

Speaking during a discussion on his YouTube channel (Ash Ki Baat), Ashwin said: “The T. Natarajan trade is a smart trade. SRH was the best team for Natarajan. If you are a cricketer and you are in good form, joining a team where you feel good and are happy increases your chances of performing well. Natarajan has always been happy with SRH and has performed well for them. He is returning there from Delhi, and I think this could be a positive move for him.”

However, Ravichandran Ashwin also shared that T Natarajan has struggled with multiple injuries over the past few years, which have also affected his pace as well. However, he also said that he could still be a valuable third seamer, particularly in home conditions as well.

“On the other hand, Natarajan has suffered several injuries, and his pace has dropped significantly. However, given SRH’s home conditions, alongside Sakib Hussain and Eshan Malinga, Natarajan could even be the third seamer in SRH’s bowling attack. He could be very useful in home conditions, so it is a great trade,” he concluded.
