Former India batter applauded West Indies captain Shai Hope after the fourth T20I between India and the West Indies. The visitors won by 24 runs and levelled the series 2-2 as well. Batting first, the West Indies posted a huge total of 247/3. Shai Hope led the charge with an unbeaten 102 off just 50 balls with four boundaries and nine sixes at a strike rate of 204 as well.

“Very few batters come to India and dominate like this. Shai Hope has also done it close to the IPL auction, so he may get a contract. He has made the best use of this opportunity. He could not have played any better to prove his skills and show that he is available. I think in the mini auction, many teams will target him. If he is batting like this, they should definitely target him,” he said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“India won the toss and opted to bowl. I think it was a good toss to lose for the West Indies. I’ll tell you why. If you look at this year’s IPL, how many matches did SRH win batting first at home? They won most of the matches batting first. The reason, the surface gets slower as the game progresses, and there is no dew. Taking that into consideration, and also because it is a high-scoring pitch, as we saw in the IPL as well, it was a good toss to lose for the West Indies,” he further added.

As India conceded 247 runs, Hanuma Vihari opined on the fifth bowler concern. Naman Dhir and Nitish Kumar Reddy were used in that place. Dhir bowled one over and gave away 19 runs, while Reddy returned figures of 0/39 from three overs as well.

“The fifth bowling option was a problem for India again. Naman went for 19, and Nitish Kumar Reddy gave 39. But the other bowlers went for 50 runs anyway, so there was nothing to blame them for. When you go for more than 240 runs, what can you say? We cannot say anything about India’s bowling, really,” Hanuma Vihari concluded.
