Ishan Kishan made an immediate impact in the fifth T20I against the West Indies, launching a fierce attack on Romario Shepherd during the rain-shortened series decider in Bengaluru. The Indian left-hander showcased his explosive batting with a quickfire knock that gave the hosts early momentum.

Persistent rain reduced the contest to nine overs per side, adding further pressure on both teams. After winning the toss, the West Indies elected to bowl first. India suffered an early setback when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed, but Kishan walked in with an aggressive approach and wasted little time putting the opposition bowlers under pressure.
Shepherd endured an expensive second over, conceding 24 runs as Kishan dominated the contest. The Indian batter began with a massive six, flicking a length delivery around middle and leg over fine leg. He followed it with a boundary, pulling a back-of-a-length delivery over mid-wicket.

Kishan continued his assault on the very next ball, going down on one knee to scoop another delivery over fine leg for six. He then added another boundary on the fifth ball, swinging across the line and finding the fence after the ball flew over short third man.

The left-hander eventually finished with a blistering 30 off just 10 deliveries, striking three fours and two sixes at an impressive strike rate of 300. His attacking display demonstrated his ability to make an immediate difference, particularly in a shortened game where every delivery carries added significance.
With the five-match T20I series level at 2-2, the final encounter became a winner-takes-all contest. Kishan’s aggressive start offered India a valuable platform to build a competitive total despite losing Abhishek early.

The Men in Blue needed to maximise their limited batting opportunities before the West Indies began their chase. Kishan’s fearless approach provided exactly the kind of momentum India required in a nine-over contest.
Having enjoyed an impressive run of form in 2026, Kishan continued to underline his value as an attacking option in India’s T20I setup. His explosive innings proved that even in a rain-affected match, he could change the momentum within a few deliveries.
