Former India player Abhinav Mukund finds nothing wrong with bat dominating bowl in the T20 format as well. He said that this is the new normal since the skill of the batters has gone up and shared that unless bowlers adapt accordingly, things will continue to remain the same in future as well. However, the India vs West Indies T20I series ended in a 2-2 draw after the fifth match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ended with no result due to rain.

During a discussion on Cricinfo, Mukund said: “I am a firm believer that this is the way the game has moved forward. A lot of people were telling me post the IPL that because of the Impact Player this is happening. It’s just the way the skill has changed. There are players who are prioritizing one format, hitting sixes for a living. So, unless we see the development of specialist bowlers who are coming in and acing that role.”

“This is the new normal according to me. I’m possibly one of the very few guys who say there is still evenness between bat and ball. The numbers are going up now because of the highly skilled batters and guys who are prioritizing just one format. Let’s say Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson who plays only T20Is for India. So, these are guys who are playing just this format and looking to just hit sixes,” Abhinav Mukund concluded.
