Former New Zealand pace bowler Tim Southee backed the Black Caps to take on Jasprit Bumrah well in the upcoming two-match home Test series against India. Bumrah has an incredible Test record with 234 wickets in 52 matches at an average of 19.79 as well. However, Bumrah has surprisingly struggled against the Kiwis in the Tests as well, taking only nine wickets in five matches at an average of 45.44. His Test numbers in New Zealand are better, with six scalps in two outings at an average of 31.66.

Talking about Bumrah’s potential impact on the Sony Sports Network (via India Today), he said: “I think New Zealand have played Bumrah incredibly well in Test cricket. I don’t think Bumrah has played in an Indian team that has beaten New Zealand. So, I think New Zealand play him exceptionally well in Tests.”

Tim Southee believes another pacer, Mohammed Siraj, could be a tough for the New Zealand batters in the upcoming Test
series.

“I’m a big fan of Mohammed Siraj and the way he bowls. If he can get his length right in New Zealand, he could be a handful. The energy he brings, the way he runs in all day, the type of bowler he is, there’s no reason why he can’t have a lot of success in New Zealand conditions. There’s a lot to like about him in particular,” Tim Southee concluded.
