Team India’s T20I vice-captain Tilak Varma has added that he is confident of performing any role for the team. He shared that he can bat at No. 3 as well as a finisher, adding that he just needs a couple of days’ practice to switch into a different role as well.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Varma said: “I have got the shots going all over the ground. I am confident that whether I bat at three or five, I have got both the techniques to adapt. If I practice for 1-2 days, I can do any role for the team. I know my technique – how to adapt if I bat at five, six. It’s just about setting up things in practice. I am confident I can do well.”

For a brief period of time, Tilak Varma seemed to have established himself in the No. 3 position in the Indian batting order in T20Is as well. However, following Ishan Kishan’s comeback, he has been pushed down to the middle order again.

“It’s not easy to change the numbers from three to five and six. It gets slightly challenging, but I have been working on that. I have said before that I want to finish the games for the country. For me, as an individual, it will be easy batting at three. But, I have to bat at five and six because we have got that combination right now. Ishan is batting brilliantly there,” he concluded.
