Chris Gayle remained unsold for first two rounds of the auction and no franchise was interested even in last round when Preity Zinta, the owner of Kings XI Punjab, raised her arms for the T20 boss Christopher Henry Gayle. No one would have imagined the first ton of IPL 2018 will come from his willow. But after his first great innings he said, he would take his talent to the grave, so did he stopped all his critics from saying.
Rashid Khan for the first time got consecutive sixes on him over. Thanks to Gayle and his swashbuckling shots. He scored the 21st century of T20 Matches proving why he is the universal boss of the short over the game. Gayle has scored ten or more sixes sixteen times in an innings in IPL whereas other players have just done it for two times.
The team mentor Virender Sehwag looked elated. Gayle while receiving his Man Of the Match award spoke about how Sehwag saved Punjab by buying him.
“A lot of people might say that Chris has a lot to prove – he didn’t get selected or wasn’t picked early in the auction. I think Virender Sehwag has saved IPL by picking me. This is a brilliant start. Viru said in an interview that if Chris Gayle can win us two games, we have got our money’s worth. I’d like to have another word with Viru and see what happens from thereon.” he said.
Sehwag is loved by the fans not only for his cricket but also for his witty personality and humorous tweets. This time too he didn’t disappoint. In reply to Gayle he tweeted:
