India pacer Arshdeep Singh provided an early breakthrough in the second T20I against New Zealand, dismissing opener Tim Seifert at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, October 24. The left-arm seamer struck in the second over to give India an early advantage in the five-match series. Seifert departed for seven off six deliveries, including one six, as New Zealand lost their first wicket with just nine runs on the scoreboard.

Arshdeep produced a back-of-a-length delivery that angled across the right-handed batter. Seifert attempted to slog the ball towards the leg side but could only manage a bottom edge. The ball went high into the air, allowing Tilak Varma to complete a comfortable catch at cover. The dismissal came off the third ball of Arshdeep’s second over, leaving the hosts at 9/1 after 1.3 overs.
New Zealand had managed eight runs in the opening over through Seifert and Finn Allen before Arshdeep broke the partnership. The early wicket put pressure on the home side as India looked to build on their victory in the series opener. India’s bowling attack continued to make an impact in the opening overs, with experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissing Daryl Mitchell in the following over.
