Mahendra Singh Dhoni covered his slow-ish start in the last two overs of Rising Pune Supergiant’s innings in the Qualifier 1 at Mumbai. Mumbai Indians’ captain, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field. Indians then made early inroads into the match by dismissing Rahul Tripathi and Steven Smith in the first two overs of the match.
MS Dhoni walked in to bat at No. 5, after the fall of Ajinkya Rahane. Dhoni had scored 14 runs from 17 balls till the 18th over of the match. He struck two sixes each in the last two overs against Mitchell McClenaghan and Jasprit Bumrah respectively.
41 runs in the last two overs ensured that Pune ended up scoring 162-4 in 20 overs. Dhoni’s blitz in the death overs provided some respectability to Pune’s total. He has not had the best of IPL this year but has constantly provided glimpses of what he is best known for.
Dhoni ended up scoring 40* (26) with the help of five sixes. Rising Pune Supergiant’s innings was bolstered by Rahane’s 43-ball 56 (comprising of five fours and a six) and Manoj Tiwary’s 48-ball 58* (comprising of four fours and two sixes). Watch the full video of Dhoni’s innings:

He is not as consistently brilliant as he used to be but Dhoni keeps reminding us that the brilliance is still very much intact.👏👏👏
