Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has endured a difficult return to the national setup, struggling to make a significant impact in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand. The right-arm seamer has conceded more than 40 runs in each of his first three matches and managed just one wicket. However, former India batter Ajinkya Rahane has urged fans and experts not to judge the experienced bowler too harshly or call for his exclusion from the team.

Rahane believes Bhuvneshwar deserves appreciation for making his comeback and should be given time to rediscover his rhythm. Although the pacer has shown glimpses of his trademark swing and ability to trouble batters with the new ball, he has yet to deliver the results expected of him. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ajinkya Rahane highlighted the importance of allowing experienced players to assess their performances and make the necessary adjustments.
“I don’t think we should judge him or overthink how he has bowled. He is an experienced player and would certainly reflect on where he fell short and what he could have done better. As far as his performances are concerned, ups and downs are part of the game. Sometimes, as a bowler, you may not find your rhythm, but that is no reason to write him off. Bhuvneshwar Kumar would certainly know what he could have done better,” Ajinkya Rahane said.

The former India vice-captain also praised Bhuvneshwar’s determination to return to the international setup, describing his comeback as an encouraging example for aspiring cricketers. He believes one strong performance could quickly change the narrative surrounding the veteran pacer.

“For me, the biggest story is that he has made a comeback at this age. We should learn from this that, as a bowler, you must never give up. Keep doing your job, and things will eventually fall into place. You never know; he could take five wickets in the next match, and things could change immediately,” Ajinkya Rahane added.
Meanwhile, Rahane was impressed with left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh’s performances in the series. The young seamer has maintained good rhythm and delivered crucial breakthroughs during the powerplay overs.

“Talking about Arshdeep, he looked in very good form and displayed a great rhythm. He picked up wickets in the powerplay, both in the previous match and in the third T20I. He is a very important player for the Indian team. He has played more than 100 T20Is and is approaching the 150-wicket mark,” Ajinkya Rahane concluded.
As India continue their T20I campaign against New Zealand, Bhuvneshwar will hope to regain his form, while Arshdeep’s consistency remains a major positive for the bowling attack.
