Indian fast bowler Auqib Nabi continued his impressive opening spell in the second ODI against New Zealand, claiming his second wicket of the morning with the help of a sensational diving catch from wicketkeeper KL Rahul. The dismissal of opener Will Young further strengthened India’s position in the rain-affected encounter on Saturday. The breakthrough came during the sixth over, with New Zealand struggling to negotiate the challenging overcast conditions.

Bowling from over the wicket, Nabi delivered a back-of-a-length ball outside off stump. The delivery gripped the surface, bounced slightly and moved away late, forcing Young into an uncomfortable defensive shot. The New Zealand opener pushed at the ball away from his body, only to produce a sharp outside edge.
The ball travelled low towards the right of the wicketkeeper, but Rahul reacted quickly and dived full-length towards first slip to complete an outstanding two-handed catch just inches above the ground. Young departed after scoring six runs off 17 deliveries, leaving New Zealand in further trouble.

Nabi’s second breakthrough reduced New Zealand to 11/2 inside the first seven overs. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir pacer had dismissed Tim Seifert for a duck in the second over, marking his maiden ODI wicket.
With figures of 2/8 from three overs, Auqib Nabi produced an impressive opening spell and gave India an excellent start in the rain-reduced 47-over contest. India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mitchell Santner’s New Zealand.

Persistent morning drizzle had delayed the toss, while subsequent ground inspections resulted in the match being reduced to 47 overs per side. Both teams retained their playing XIs from the series opener in Auckland. India looked to exploit the moisture underneath the surface, while New Zealand backed their unchanged combination to bounce back after suffering a five-wicket defeat in the first ODI.
