In the 19th match of IPL 2018, the hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched a comfortable 6-wicket victory against the visiting team Delhi Daredevils (DD) at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru) on Saturday night. DD was restricted to 174/5 in 20 overs which was successfully chased by the hosts in 18 overs after losing 4 wickets.
RCB captain Virat Kohli decided to bowl first after winning the toss. After the both Delhi openers fell cheaply (Jason Roy 5 and Gautam Gambhir 3), Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant put an important 75-run partnership for the third wicket that brought the visitors back into the game.
Both Shreyas and Rishabh completed their half-centuries. While Shreyas was dismissed for 52 runs (31 balls), Pant carried the innings till the last over as he was dismissed on 85 off 48 balls in 19.4 overs. Shreyas hit 4 fours & 3 sixes and Pant managed to hit 6 fours and 7 sixes.
Mainly, these two knocks helped the team to put 174 runs on the board (174/5) at the end of 20 overs.
Among the RCB bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal (2/22) picked up two wickets while Umesh Yadav (1/27), Washington Sundar (1/31) and Corey Anderson (1/10) claimed one wicket each.
In reply, RCB also lost their both openers quickly as Manan Vohra just scored 2 runs and Quinton de Kock was run-out for 18 runs after a mix-up with Virat Kohli.
However, skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers constructed the innings at next and made a strong finish. While Kohli was sent to the pavilion for 30 runs after a spectacular catch by Trent Boult, AB de Villiers slammed the Delhi bowlers that denied any further comeback for the visiting side.
After completing his half-century in just 24 balls, de Villiers batted more furiously as he was not out at the end of 90 runs off just 39 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. As a result, the hosts comfortably chased down the target after losing four wickets with 12 balls to spare.
Among the DD bowlers, Trent Boult (1/33), Glenn Maxwell (1/13) and Harshal Patel (1/33) got one wicket each.
