Sunrisers Hyderabad paceman Billy Stanlake has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 season due to a fractured finger. The Australian suffered a displaced fracture on the little finger of his right hand while fielding in the game against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
The franchise has confirmed in a tweet that the 23-year-old will not be available for the rest of the tournament. The Australian fast bowler has flown back to his country for further treatment and will not be available for the rest of IPL 2018.
Following are the probable Replacement options in front of SRH –
Thisara Perera
The Sri Lankan all-rounder has played the IPL before. Thisara is a useful all-rounder who bowls right-arm medium pace and is an explosive lower order batsman capable of playing a big knock.
Perera has played all over the globe in T20 cricket. There is hardly any country where he has not played T20 cricket. With the enormous experience of 236 T20 matches behind him, Perera will be an interesting option for SRH. Also, Perera’s last IPL team was also Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Junior Dala
The South African right-arm bowler can be like to like replacement for Billy Stanlake. Playing for the Titans, Dala has picked 49 wickets in 52 matches. The bowler was also very impressive in the recent India-SOuth Africa tour. In the three T20Is that Dala played, he picked up 7 wickets with the best figures being 3/37.
Andile Phehlukwayo
The South African All-rounder will be on the radar of the SRH franchise. Phehlukwayo plays for Dolphins team in the South African domestic T20 cricket. He has played for his national team in all three formats.
The left-handed batsman does not boast of a great batting record but the 22-year old definitely has the potential. He bowls right-handed medium pace and has taken 35 wickets in 44 innings that he has bowled in.
Sean Abbot
A wicket-taking medium-fast bowler who also strikes the ball cleanly with the bat, Abbott has played for Australia’s one-day and Twenty20 squads against Pakistan in the UAE in 2014. He was the unfortunate bowler who bowled Hughes to death.Abbott has been a part of the IPL before and was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore. In t20 cricket, he has picked up 69 wickets in the 64 matches that he has played.
Jhye Richardson
The young Australian fast bowler who made his limited overs debut for Western Australia at the age of 19 in 2015-16, Jhye Richardson was a surprise selection in Australia’s Twenty20 squad to play Sri Lanka in February 2017. His call-up came on the back of a productive Big Bash season for Perth Scorchers where he snared 11 wickets.
The fast bowler could be the perfect replacement for Billy Stanlake.
