After the Friday night IPL game between the hosts Delhi Daredevils (DD) and the visiting team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi), KKR pacer Shivam Mavi and DD pacer Avesh Khan have been reprimanded for breaching the Level 1 code of conduct during the game.

During the match, Shivam Mavi and Avesh Khan both presented attacking send-offs for the batsmen with some prompting words. After dismissing DD opener Colin Munro in the first innings of the game, Mavi had some few attacking words for the batsman.

In the second innings, Avesh Khan repeated that incident after dismissing Andre Russell.

An IPL media release claimed, “Both Mr. Mavi and Mr. Khan admitted to the Level 1 offence under 2.1.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and accepted the sanctions.”

For the level 1 offence, Match Referee’s decision is final. Though both the young bowlers have not faced any fined or suspension in this case, repetition the same incident in this season will provide them fines and/or suspensions.

After some poor performances, finally, DD claimed a great victory on Friday night. DD was forced to bat first after winning the toss. While young opener Prithvi Shaw scored a brilliant 62 runs, new skipper Shreyas Iyer played the superb knock of unbeaten 93 runs off just 40 balls as DD put a big total of 219/4 in 20 overs.

Mavi was very expensive in the game as his bowling figure was 4-0-58-1. In the final over of that innings, Mavi conceded total 29 runs.

In reply, KKR top-orders fell quickly which took them very far away from the game. Despite some fighting knocks from Shubman Gill and Andre Russell, KKR only managed to score 164/9 at the end of 20 overs as DD won the game by 55 runs.

With that victory, DD climbed up to the seventh position in the points table with 4 points. Meanwhile, KKR has remained their fourth position in the points table with 6 points.
