During the 28th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Jaipur, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Yusuf Pathan dismissed Ben Stokes as the hosts lost their third wicket.
After Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 151-7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Williamson, who came in to bat at No. 3 in the third over, ended up top-scoring for his team. He scored 63 (43) with the help of seven fours and two sixes. For the Royals, Jofra Archer (4-0-26-3) was the pick of the bowlers.
In the second innings, the Sunrisers made early inroads by dismissing Rahul Tripathi (4) in the third over. The dismissal was followed by a 59-run stand for the second wicket between Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson. Once Samson (40) got out, it was vital for Hyderabad to not leave the momentum.
In which was a strange decision by Williamson to introduce Pathan into the attack, it proved to be fruitful one. Pathan, who was bowling for the first time in the season, bowled Ben Stokes (0) with his second delivery. In what appeared to be a half-tracker, Stokes’ unsuccessful attempt to pull saw the ball hitting the stumps.
