On this day in 2014, an amazing turnaround took place at the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad as Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders almost magically. Rajasthan Royal’ veteran leg-spinner Pravin Tambe got a rare two-ball hat-trick to become only the second player in the history of T20 cricket and the first in the history of IPL to pull off the miracle.

Rajasthan’s away opponent Kolkata Knight Riders achieved the ignominy of becoming the first team in the history of IPL who lost a match after having conjured a 100-run opening partnership during the chase. Tambe got the hat-trick in the 16th over. The first delivery adjudged wide as the googly spun enough to beat an advancing Manish Pandey as he was stumped by Sanju Samson.

With his first legal delivery, he got Yusuf Pathan (0) and Ryan ten Doeschate (0) was done in by a flipper.Rajasthan Royals players rush to congratulate Pravin Tambe after the leg-spinner took a hat-trick against KKR

However, this was only the second time that a bowler in T20 cricket has taken a hat-trick in two legal deliveries.Sri Lankan left-arm seamer Isuru Udana was the first among equals as he got three with two legal deliveries playing for Wayamba against Central Districts during a 2010 Champions League T20 match in Port Elizabeth.

While batting, KKR scored 121 for the opening stand and with only 50 runs to get, disaster struck as they lost six wickets for two runs and never recovered from that. Rajasthan cruised to a 10-runs victory in the end.
