The Tamilnadu veteran batsman Subramaniam Badrinath is set to retire from the first-class cricket. 37-year old has donned the Indian jersey in two Tests, seven ODIs, and one T20I. Badrinath is contracted with Hyderabad in the first-class cricket and did not show up in the 2017-18 season for them. Though, he did not announce his retirement then.
The signs were clear when Badrinath did not turn out for Hyderabad in the entire season. The middle-order batsman is currently doing commentary in IPL and is also writing out his expert opinions about the cricket at various platforms.
The Tamilnadu stalwart, Badrinath has played in 145 first-class matches and has scored 10245 runs in at a healthy average of 54.49. His highest score in the first-class cricket is a whopping 250. In 144 List A matches, he scored 4164 runs at an average of 36.84. He also played 142 T20s matches in which he scored around 2300 runs.

Badrinath’s international debut occurred in 2008 in an ODI against Sri Lanka. Two years later, he made his Test debut against South Africa in Nagpur but ended up playing only two Tests in total. He was included in the Test squad for the home series against New Zealand in 2012 after VVS Laxman announced his retirement before the series but Badrinath did not get a game. He was dropped from the side and never got selected in Indian team thereafter.
He played his last ODI against West Indies in North Sound in 2011, a series where he was making his comeback to international cricket on basis of his performance in the IPL. He was the backbone for Chennai Super Kings for five years before he went unsold in IPL auction 2014. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL auction in 2015 but did not get a chance to play for them.

Subramaniam Badrinath will retire as one of the legendary Indian first-class players whose international career does not to do full justice to their performances. According to a report in Times of India, Badrinath is all set to announce his retirement after the completion of Indian Premier League 2018.
