During the 42nd match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Delhi, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Shakib Al Hasan drew first blood as he dismissed both the openers of the opposite team on consecutive deliveries.

Shreyas Iyer, captain of Delhi Daredevils, had won the toss and chose to bat. Making three changes to their playing eleven, Delhi Daredevils brought in Jason Roy, Shahbaz Nadeem and Harshal Patel in place of Naman Ojha, Daniel Christian and Avesh Khan. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a solitary change in bring in Sreevats Goswami in place of Wriddhiman Saha.

Delhi Daredevils started on a slower note, scoring 16 runs in the first three overs. Playing against the best bowling attack of the tournament, perhaps it was their strategy to get their eye in. Just when it was time for the openers to shift gears, both of them were dismissed by Shakib.

On the penultimate delivery of the fourth over, Prithvi Shaw shaped in pull a short ball. However, the slowness of the surface meant that the ball had come late on him. The ball lobbed off his leading edge to Shikhar Dhawan at cover. He scored 9 (11) with the help of one four.

On the next ball, Shakib bowled a peach of a delivery to induce the outside edge of Jason Roy’s bat. Roy ending up scoring 11 (13) with the help of two fours. Watch the full video:
