The night belonged to one man at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. It was the 20-year old from Delhi who batted like a possessed. After ending short the innings’ of two other teammates, Pant took out his anger on the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers and smashed them to pieces. Playing some unbelievable strokes, Rishabh Pant registered his maiden IPL century and scored a mammoth 128 not out from 63 balls. DD posted 187/5.

Shakib picked two wickets in two balls.

Earlier in the night, Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first realizing the potential of SRH to defend any total. DD brought in Shahbaz Nadeem, Jason Roy and Harshal Patel to replace Daniel Christian, Avesh Khan and Naman Ojha. SRH replaced Wriddhiman Saha with Sreevats Goswami.

The start from Delhi was quiet. Their usual quick-starter Prithvi Shaw could not play a big inning tonight and he perished to Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib took another wicket on his next ball and nipped out the other opener as well. Soon Shreyas Iyer was run out due to the confusion between him and Pant.

Pant scored 26 runs in the last over.

The innings was moving very slow and DD tried pushing ahead Harshal Patel to speed up the matter. He was run-out due to Pant as well as Patel went back for 24 from 17 balls. DD at that stage was 98/4 in 14 overs. In the next six overs, they scored 89 runs with Pant’s contribution being 80.

Once Harshal Patel was run out, Pant took over and just humiliated the best bowling attack in the tournament. He carted boundaries all over the ground with the highlights being the reverse flicks over the fine leg and one-handed sixes over long-off. His innings was extraordinary and was unbeaten by the end. He remained not out on 128 in just 63 balls with 15 fours and 7 sixes.

The Pant Carnage landed Delhi to the total of 187. SRH will need 188 runs to chase.
