Delhi Daredevils (DD) had another disappointing season in the IPL 2018 where they finished at the bottom-placed (eighth position) with 10 points. While their IPL 2018 season has been ended already, DD suddenly entered into the controversies after a recent report on their misusing the cheerleaders.

As per TOI reports, BCCI’s anti-corruption unit (ACU) cautioned the Delhi franchise for inviting cheerleaders to a recent celebrity golf tournament dinner in Gurgaon. That incident happened before their home game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which had been played on last Friday (May 18).

According to the TOI reports, ACU didn’t file a complaint with BCCI on this but they have assured that it will be recorded in the IPL feedback reports after the end of the 2018 season.

A top ACU official told TOI on Monday, “These girls were invited. It was not that the cricketers were partying with these girls. The cheerleaders arrived, attended the dinner and left. However, the ACU has warned the team to ensure such a thing doesn’t happen again. Bringing cheer-girls to party is banned as the ACU code doesn’t permit any outsider to get close to the players.”

The official further added, “However, it did happen and hence the warning was given. Now that the team did it, ACU was alert enough to report the incident. They briefed the team to avoid such situations in the future.”

However, the franchise has denied to involving their cheerleaders in any private events.

A team source quoted, “The Daredevils don’t get cheerleaders to any of the private events. If the ACU officials are unhappy, they should talk to us.”

Previously, the cheerleaders were present in the post-match IPL parties. But after the IPL fixing incident had broken out, that tradition had been scraped.
