The young leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan enjoyed one of the most successful outings in the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Soon after the IPL concluded, he bagged another top honor. He was awarded the T20 Bowler of the Year award at the CEAT Awards in Mumbai. He is tipped to be a modern-day legend of the game.

Recently, Rashid reflected back at his IPL edition with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He finished the season as the second leading wicket-taker, next to Andrew Tye of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). He picked as many as 21 wickets in the 17 matches that he played in the season at a very impressive economy rate of 6.73.

The young leg-spinner took several prized wickets in the season including the wickets of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, and lots more. When asked to pick the wicket that he cherished the most, Rashid remarked that the wickets of AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni remain to be the three biggest scalps of his cricketing career.

As quoted in Times of India, Rashid Khan, “Getting rid of Virat (Kohli), AB (de Villiers) and MS Dhoni was very satisfying. In fact, I consider them the best wickets of my career so far. They are really good players of spin bowling so getting them out made it memorable for me.”

After a very successful IPL, Khan is now expected to be back for international duties. He will be seen in the 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Dehradun, India. After the conclusion of the T20I series, team Afghanistan will play against India in their historic maiden Test match. Certainly, he is not getting enough personal time for his family amidst all the cricket action.

Talking about his IPL journey more, the young leggie said, “I have not been able to spend too much time with my family, finding myself with them barely for 15 to 20 days.” However, Rashid hopes that the sacrifices made will be worth the eventual rewards that he gets.
