On Sunday, BCCI Acting President C.K. Khanna decided to take on the cricket field as a bowler in the exhibition match between Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA) and the organizing committee of 45th Goswami Ganesh Dutt memorial tourney.
Khanna came in to bowl a couple of overs for the organizing committee, however, they lost the match by a margin of by 7 wickets at the St. Stephen’s Ground in New Delhi.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, the organizers’ team managed to post the total of meager 129 which DSJA led by Rupesh Singh’s unbeaten 43 eclipsed in mere 16.3 overs. Rupesh also shone with the ball taking one wicket, while Sourabh Gupta was the pick of the DSJA bowlers with three scalps to his tally.
This was the DSJA’s first win against the Organizing XI in their 10 meetings till date.

According to some of the reports, former India international Madan Lal, CK Khanna’s wife Shashi and ex-DDCA sports committee member Vinod Tihara have been cleared to contest the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) election on 30 June.
In case of Khanna’s wife, the rival group’s objection was over her husband being the acting president. However, it was clarified that her husband holding a position in the board can’t prevent her from contesting a state association election, as the BCCI doesn’t interfere in the internal governance of the association. In case of Tihara, the objection was that he was a part of the contentious sports committee for 15 years and the rivals demanded that he is sent on a “cooling off” period as per Lodha reforms.
However, the objection was dismissed as the state panel never had any executive powers and could only recommend names.
