35-year-old experienced English pacer James Anderson has suffered a shoulder trouble and that has forced him to take rest for next six weeks.
While India will start their five-match Test series journey during their England tour in almost six weeks later, England has got a big headache as their one of the important pacer James Anderson has suffered an injury on his right shoulder, which he is battling for a long time.
Now, Anderson has to undergo in the process of rehabilitation to make himself as a match fit. According to his national team head coach, Trevor Bayliss, Anderson has to miss the competitive cricket for the next six weeks.
Talking on Anderson’s present fitness status, Bayliss said, “We have five Tests against India in a six-week period from August 1, which will be an intense and challenging period for all our bowlers, and therefore it’s vital that we ensure Jimmy goes into that series in the best possible condition.
“Jimmy has to manage the issue with his right shoulder, and we’ve been advised that the best way for him to prepare for the India series is to take a six-week break from cricket now, initially to rest it and then to work slowly back to cricket. That six-week period covers Lancashire’s two Championship matches over the next three weeks. We will then monitor to see where Jimmy is at and ensuring he is ready for the India series.”
India’s England tour will begin in July where they will play three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series and five-match Test series against the hosts England. After the completion of the limited-overs series, the Test series will begin from August 1.
Anderson was in good form in the recently concluded two-match home Test series against Pakistan. While the series was drawn by the 1-1 margin, Anderson was the second most wicket-taker in that series with 9 wickets in four innings.
While the upcoming India series will be tougher for the hosts, the English team is hopeful to get Anderson fit before the beginning of an important home Test series in this season.
