Today, on July 7, 2018, former World-T20-winning and World-Cup-winning Indian captain MS Dhoni becomes the 37-year-old. As he is currently busy in England to play the limited-overs series, he celebrated his birthday in England with his team members and his wife & daughter.
Apart from being a successful world-class captain, Dhoni is also one of the best wicketkeepers, batsmen and finishers in the world cricket. And of course, he is one of the most loving and respected cricketers in the world.
Dhoni made his international cricket debut in December 2004 through the ODI cricket when India had a tour in Bangladesh. After struggling in the initial stages, Dhoni gradually grew up and evolved himself as a world-class cricketer.
One year later, Dhoni made his Test debut in December 2005 against Sri Lanka at Chennai. Similarly, one more year later, the wicketkeeper-batsman made his T20I debut in December 2006 against South Africa at Johannesburg, which was also India’s first ever T20I match.
In December 2014, Dhoni played his last Test and retired from that format. Dhoni played 90 Tests where he scored 4,876 runs with the average of 38.09. He also made a total of 294 dismissals in that format (256 catches and 38 stumpings). In his career, Dhoni led his side in 60 Tests where India won in 27 matches.
Though he has given up his international cricket captaincy in 2016, he is still playing the limited-overs international crickets in best form.
Dhoni has played 318 ODIs where he has scored 9,967 runs with the average of 51.37. Also, he has made a total of 404 dismissals in ODI career (297 catches and 107 stumpings). He led the Indian side in 199 ODIs where India won 110 matches. Also, he has picked up the only wicket in this format and it is also the only wicket in his international cricket career.
Meanwhile, Dhoni has played 92 T20Is where he has scored 1,487 runs with the average of 37.17. He has also made 82 dismissals in T20Is (49 catches and 33 stumpings). Dhoni was captain for India in 72 T20Is and India won in 41 games among those.
Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World T20, 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Dhoni is the only captain who won three different ICC trophies.
Worldwide cricket fans, former and present cricketers are sending best wishes to Dhoni for his 37th birthday. Like the other Indian cricketers, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has also wished his senior.
