After getting ruled out from the ongoing entire three-match T20I series against the hosts England, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah also has been ruled out from the next three-match ODI series on the England tour. But now the most important question is can Bumrah return to the national squad during the Test series on England tour?

The 24-year-old right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah got an injury on his left thumb during the first T20I of the two-match T20I series against the hosts Ireland on June 27. While he tried to stop a ball on his run-up, it hit badly on his non-bowling hand.

Since then, he missed the cricket matches. Recently, he underwent a surgery and then he returned to India for rehabilitation.

In a recent statement, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) said, “Bumrah underwent a surgery on Wednesday, 4 July in Leeds before returning to India. The surgery was successful and he will commence rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.”

Now the big question is when the Indian cricket team will get the fit Bumrah? As he is one of the important bowlers in the present Indian cricket team line-up, his presence in the squad is very important.

The five-match Test series will begin on August 1 at Edgbaston. As this type of surgery generally takes five to six weeks to recover, he is likely going to miss the first Test. If everything goes right, it is expected that Bumrah will return in England prior to the second Test that will begin on August 9 at Lord’s. But can India get him as match fit for the second Test, time will give the answer?

Though Bumrah hasn’t much experience with the red ball in international cricket, he has shown his potential to do well with the red ball. Making his Test debut in last January during the South Africa tour, Bumrah played all the three matches and got a total of 14 wickets, the second most wicket taker in that series.

In the English condition, Bumrah’s presence will benefit the Indian bowling line-up who never allows the opponent batsmen to feel easy.
