BCCI announced the full squads for the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full-member squads for the upcoming Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy that will be played at Alur, Bengaluru from 14th August 2018 to 21st August 2018.

While the traditional Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy is the 50-over format, which will be played in the new season in January 2019, the new tournament will be in the T20 format and it will be the first edition of the tournament.

Focusing the 2018 Women’s World T20, which will be held between 9 and 24 November in West Indies, the women’s domestic season is starting with the T20 format and the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy will be the season opener of the women’s domestic cricket.

Total three teams will participate in the 2018 Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy and these three teams are – India Blue, India Red and India Green. A total of seven matches will be played at Alur, Bengaluru, including the final, from 14th August to 21st August 2018. However, initially, the tournament was scheduled from 13th to 20th August 2018.

The BCCI Women’s Selection Committee had a meeting in Mumbai to decide the squads. Total 39 players have been divided equally to the three squads as each team has the 13-member squad.

Mithali Raj will lead the India Blue squad while Deepti Sharma and Veda Krishnamurthy will lead the India Red and India Green respectively.

India Blue: Mithali Raj (captain), V.R. Vanitha, D. Hemalatha, Neha Tanwar, Anuja Patil, Saima Thakor, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Radha Yadav, Preeti Bose, Poonam Yadav, Keerthy James, Mansi Joshi and Suman Gulia.

India Red: Deepti Sharma (captain), Punam Raut, Disha Kasat, Mona Meshram, Harlene Deol, Tanushree Sarkar, Ekta Bisht, Tanuja Kanwer, Shikha Pandey, Shanti Kumari, ReemaLaxmi Ekka, Nuzhat Parveen (wicket-keeper) and Aditi Sharma.

India Green: Veda Krishnamurthy (captain), Jemimah Rodrigues, Priya Punia, Devika Vaidya, Monikha Das, Arundathi Reddy, Sushma Verma (wicket-keeper), Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Fatima Jaffer, Sushree Dibyadarshini, Sukanya Parida, Jhulan Goswami and S. Sajana.
