Shankar is feeling frustrated after getting ruled out from the upcoming Quadrangular series. Shankar called it was a freak injury and he is inexperienced with this injury.

Shankar told TOI, “I am getting injured all the time during India A commitments. It affects me mentally. This is the first time I’m having a muscle-related injury. I slipped while bowling and injured my left hamstring tendon. This was a freak injury.”

“To miss out on some cricket every year after going to play for India A is very disappointing and frustrating. Since this was the first muscle injury, I did not know how to react to it initially,”

Initially, he thought that it will take 2-3 weeks time to get fit, but it will take some more time to recover.

The all-rounder added, “To be honest, I was really hoping to play the quadrangular series and maybe even the four-day matches against Australia A. Initially, I thought I will recover in 2-3 weeks’ time, but it is taking more time to recover.

“Recently, I went and visited my doctor (surgeon) in Mumbai along with NCA physio Ashish Kaushik. He had done my knee surgery. He told me that it is going to take some more time and that it needs to be monitored every week.”
