Indian south-western state Kerala is facing a disaster situation due to excessive flood in the wider area of the state. Observing the present situation, Indian young cricketer Sanju Samson has come in front to help the flood victims.

The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has recently described the situation is worst in over a hundred years in the state’s history. While the death toll has risen to over 350, more than 2 lakh people are in about 1500+ relief camps.

While the whole nation has opened their hands to help Kerala as much as possible, the 23-year-old Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has made a donation of INR 15 lakh towards Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

While the Keralian boy Sanju is currently busy in the quadrangular List A series (India A, India B, Australia A and South Africa A) where he is representing the India A, his father Samson Viswanath and brother Saly Samson met CM on Friday to hand over the cheque.

In an exclusive interview with Khaleej Times, Samson said, “It’s time for everyone to join hands and make whatever contribution they can to help those affected by the flood. I feel it’s my duty to promote the message of relief work. I hope people will come forward and help the government and those in need.”

He further added, “This is not for publicity. I do charity without letting the world know. Now, it’s the time to raise some awareness on the importance of making donation to the flood relief fund and people like me have to do it and let know the public. I think my action will prompt several other people to come forward and support the flood-hit people.”

Samson has already made his international cricket debut in 2015 and has played only one T20I that was against Zimbabwe at Harare (July 19, 2015) where he scored 19 runs.
