Both Paranjape and Khoda have not played Test cricket and hence were ousted from the selection committee in January 2017 because of the Justice Lodha Committee reforms that the selection panel needs to be trimmed to three members.

However, following a case strongly put up by the member units of the BCCI and the Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramanium stating a need for having five members in the selection committee, the Supreme Court in its order on August 9, restored the strength of the senior, junior and women selection committees to five members with the senior most among them being named the Chairman.

The BCCI also informed Anjali Pendharkar and Sudha Shah that their position in the women’s selection committee has also been restored. The women’s selection committee will now consist of Hemlata Kala (chairperson), Shashi Gupta, Anjali Pendharkar, Lopamudra Banerjee and Sudha Shah.

They will pick the Indian team for the upcoming ICC Women’s Championship against Sri Lanka, West Indies and the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the West Indies.

The BCCI has asked the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprises of the stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar, V.V.S.Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly to name a replacement for Venkatesh Prasad, who resigned as Chairman of the junior selection committee in order to take up the position of a bowling coach with the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL.

Prasad was replaced by Ashish Kapoor, who along with Amit Sharma, was removed from the junior selection committee in January 2017. All the amendments in the three selection committees will be made at the next BCCI AGM when the members will reconstitute the CAC who in turn will name the three selection committees.
