The 28-year-old Indian right-arm pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has recovered from the lower-back injury and has been added in India A squad for the remaining matches of the ongoing Quadrangular A series where India B, Australia A and South Africa A are also participating.

During the limited-overs series on the UK tour, the injury problem raised with the time progresses. First, he featured in the first T20I of two-match T20I series against the hosts Ireland and then he played first two T20Is out of three T20Is against the hosts England.

After observing his fitness, Bhuvneshwar was selected for the series-decider third and final ODI against the hosts England but things didn’t go according to the plan. After that final ODI, which India suffered a defeat, it raised Kumar’s fitness issue a lot of and initially it was thought that he would miss at least the first three Tests of the five-match Test series in England.

After the end of the first three Tests, he failed to prove the match-fit and missed the final squad for the last two Tests of the series. While the fourth Test is going to begin on this Thursday (August 30), it will be interesting to see if the team management will consider to call back him in the Test squad for the fifth Test at Oval that will begin on September 7.

At present, Kumar has been added in India A squad for the remaining matches of the ongoing Quadrangular A series. While India A failed to qualify for the final on Monday, they will play against South Africa A on Wednesday for the third-place play-off encounter in this series. Meanwhile, on the same day, India B will meet against Australia A in the final match of this series.
