Playing for Western Storm in 2018 Women’s Cricket Super League (2018 KIA Super League), a semi-professional women’s Twenty20 cricket competition in England and Wales, Indian women’s cricket team opener Smriti Mandhana won the Player of the Tournament award after performing impressively with the bat in the whole tournament.
In the recently concluded tournament, the Western Storm opener Mandhana finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament by scoring 421 runs in 9 innings with the average of 60.14 and the strike-rate of 174.68, including one century and two half-centuries. It is the record runs that have been scored by a batswoman in a season of this tournament history.

In this tournament, Mandhana was very consistent with the bat as she played some incredible knocks consistently like – 48, 37, 52*, 43*, 102, 56 and 49.
Moreover, the 52* innings against Loughborough Lightning was the joint fastest half-century in women’s T20 cricket history as she completed her half-century in just 18 balls. New Zealand’s Sophie Devine’s has a record to complete her half-century in the same number of balls (18 balls) in a T20I match against India Women in 2015.

Mandhana scored her century in this tournament against Lancashire Thunder where she completed her century in 60 balls and led her team to a victory after their successful chase of 154 runs.
While Mandhana hit 45 fours in this KSL season, she is leading the most six hitters list in this KSL season with 21 sixes.
Her powerful batting performances helped the Western Storm to reach the semi-final of the KSL 2018 after finishing at the second position in the points table. However, she missed the semi-final game and her team suffered a nine runs defeat against Surrey Stars.

In the final match, Surrey Stars beat the points-table leader Loughborough Lightning by 66 runs and won the crown for the first time.
