The Indian team is in commanding position in the fourth Test in Southampton as they have dismissed six English batsmen just after the start of play after lunch on Day 1. They also made a phenomenal comeback in the series by upstaging England at Trent Bridge, where the Indian batsman showed some grit in their technique while facing the new ball and played mostly on the back-foot which worked for them. However, the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has reflected on his game and revealed that he has made some amendments to his batting style again at the Ageas Bowl.

Dhawan was dropped from the squad because of his poor performance in the series opener. But Murali Vijay‘s continuous struggles against the swinging new ball led to him coming back in the playing XI. At Trent Bridge, the southpaw made impactful contributions of 35 and 44 in two innings and would be now hoping to convert the starts and make a big score in Southampton.

While speaking to Sky Sports about the same, Shihar said, “We felt really good winning in such a dominant way especially after the first two losses, we showed good character and learned from our mistakes. We have a good chance to come back in this series, so we have to come up with the same routines.”

Moreover, Dhawan also gave an insight into his batting style. Like the Nottingham game, he has once again changed his technique to get adjusted to the conditions in Southampton. He also went on to say that he analysed his game and stayed mentally strong.

Shikhar concluded, “We need to stick to the process once you know the conditions. We will have to be patient. I’ve backed my plan and I’ve learned the ball swings quite late here. I’ve analysed myself and realise I can’t play too short. I didn’t do well in the first game, but my mental strength was very strong and I saw they were very patient with their line and length. So I had to be strong.”
