The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the details of 2018/19 Vijay Hazare Trophy that will be played between 37 teams from September 19 to October 20, 2018.
BCCI has decided to start the domestic cricket team’s new season with the List-A formats and Vijay Hazare trophy is going to take place at first. The participating 37 teams have been divided into four groups – Elite Group A, B and Plate Group each has nine teams while the Elite Group C has ten teams. All the new nine teams have been placed in the Plate Group.
At the end of group stages, the top three teams from Elite Group A, the top two teams from Elite Group B & C and the top-ranked team from Plate Group will qualify for the knock-out stages that will begin with the quarterfinals.
The Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and the KSCA grounds will host the Elite Group A matches while New Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium and Air Force Grounds will host the Elite Group B matches.
Elite Group C will be played in Chennai’s various venues including the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Gujarat’s Nadiad, Baroda and Anand will host the Plate Group matches.
The knock-out stages’ venues will be announced later. The tournament will kick-off on September 19 while the final of the tournament will be played on October 20.
Karnataka will begin their journey as the defending champions who beat Saurashtra in the final by 41 runs.
Elite Group A: Goa, Maharashtra, Baroda, Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Vidarbha, Karnataka, Railways.
Elite Group B: Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Odisha.
Elite Group C: Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Services, Tripura, Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Team Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu.
Plate Group: Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Puducherry.
