The ongoing fifth Test hero Jos Buttler has claimed that he feels quite comfortable to bat with the tail-enders. Starting the day two on their overnight score 198/7, English batsmen Jos Buttler played a valuable knock of 89 runs off 133 balls (6 fours and 2 sixes) that helped England to cross the 300-run total, which seemed unachievable at one stage. At the end of the first innings, England scored 332 runs.

At one stage, England was struggling on 214/8, since then the birthday boy Buttler put a crucial 98-run partnership with Stuart Broad for the ninth wicket and brought back the hosts into the track. In that innings, he mostly played with the tail-enders where he put some impressive partnerships that helped the English team to make a brilliant comeback in the game.

Talking about batting with tail-enders, Buttler said at the end of the day, “You try and sum up a situation and play accordingly. Batting where I do, when you start batting with the tail, I feel quite comfortable going into that mode (starting slow and then shifting gears).”

Though Buttler has achieved huge success in recent limited-overs cricket through his brilliant attacking batting, he doesn’t believe the same thing to achieve the success in Test cricket.

Buttler said, “People have said to me, ‘oh you should play the way you do in white-ball cricket in red-ball cricket’. I’ve never really seen it like that. I’ve never felt comfortable just to go out there and play shots. For any batsman, you’re always reviewing your decision ball by ball. It’s about being respectful of the situation, and playing it accordingly.”

At the stumps on day two, India was struggling on 174/6 as they were still trailing by 158 runs. Buttler believes if they perform well on the third day morning, they can sit up at the strong position in this Test match.

The English cricketer said, “The lead at the minute is quite healthy. If we can back up the performance tomorrow morning, we can be in a really strong position in the game.”
