Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza feels proud after finishing as the runners-up in the Asia Cup 2018 but also believes they have to learn so many things.
Despite the absence of two important senior cricketers – Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan – Bangladesh fought well against India in the final of the tournament and were very close to winning the game as well as the tournament, but India won that game finally on the last ball of the game.
Talking about his team, skipper Mortaza said, “The boys should feel proud but at the same time I think we have to learn so many things.”

Mortaza credited his bowlers to do well in this entire tournament. He further added that it was the very good tournament for them despite the injuries had been ruled out two important cricketers Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan.
Mortaza added, “Bowlers have done a really good job this tournament, every time batters score more than 240, we won the match. Obviously the team can be proud, but we have to move forward from here… Boys did a very good job without two key members from the side in Shakib and Tamim.”

In the final match against India at Dubai on Friday, Bangladesh had a good start as their openers Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided a century partnership (120 runs partnership). But the next batsmen fell cheaply and Bangladesh was bowled out for just 222 runs, despite the opener Das’ brilliant century.

In reply, Indian cricket team lost their wickets in regular intervals as the match went to the final over where India won that by three wickets in a thrilling way with the single in the final ball of the match.
Mortaza said, “Everytime we play this kind of tournament, we’re struggling somewhere. Today we had a good start (with the bat) but couldn’t go through. Even if you look at the last three-four matches, we lost so many wickets early but still we managed to score 240-250.”
Bangladesh captain also hopes that they won a lot of hearts with their performances in the Asia Cup 2018. He said, “I hope we won a lot of hearts.”
