Though that incident didn’t happen during Johri’s BCCI tenure, the CoA has demanded his explanation on this matter within a week. It also added that the future action will depend on that explanation.

The CoA release stated, “There are certain media reports today, including in the social media, pertaining to Mr. Rahul Johri, CEO BCCI. The reports disclose allegations against Mr. Johri, by an unnamed person through a twitter handle. The allegations also relate to his previous employment with a large media house. The allegations have appeared as a part of the “me too” movement. Though the said allegations do not pertain to his employment with the BCCI, the Committee of Administrators of the BCCI has deemed it appropriate to seek an explanation from Mr Johri in relation to the allegations. He has been asked to submit his explanation within a week. The future course of action will be considered on receipt of his explanation.”

Johri is serving as BCCI CEO since June 2016. He is the responsible person for the functioning, operations, stakeholder management and building strategies for further promoting cricket in India. Prior to that role, Johri served as Executive Vice President and General Manager – South Asia for Discovery Networks Asia Pacific.

Ahead of the ICC board meeting, Johri has a schedule to join a meeting of ICC Chief Executives in Singapore on this Wednesday (October 17), where Johri will represent to BCCI. Till the time, Johri hasn’t made any official response.
