The 26-year-old right-arm pacer Shardul Thakur suffered a groin injury on the opening day of his debutant Test match, which was the recent second and final Test of the series against Windies at Hyderabad (Deccan). He delivered only 10 balls before getting hurt in that injury and returned to the dressing room.

He didn’t come to bowl again in that game. However, he came to bat during India’s first innings and remained unbeaten on 4 runs, while he put an important 28-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin for the final wicket.

But Thakur will not able to play the upcoming entire ODI series due to his groin injury. However, it was not the first time when he suffered this injury. Before that Test series, Thakur featured in Asia Cup 2018 in UAE that was played in last month. After their opening game of the tournament against Hong Kong in Group A, Thakur suffered the groin injury and later, he was ruled out from the entire tournament.

Now, the 30-year-old Umesh Yadav has replaced him in the upcoming first two ODIs of the five-match ODI series. Yadav is currently in the brilliant form with the ball in hand as he claimed his first 10-wicket haul in Test career during the recent Hyderabad (Deccan) game, where the debutant Thakur received that groin injury.
