The legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble celebrated his 48th birthday on Wednesday. He is one of the biggest match-winners India has ever produced. His splendid bowling records speak volumes of his magnificent stature as a cricketer.
Former and present cricketers posted some beautiful birthday messages for Kumble on their respective social media accounts. Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Vinod Kambli were among those who extended their birthday greetings for the former India cricketer.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also wished Kumble happy birthday on his 48th birthday with the video of him taking 10 wickets in the Delhi test against Pakistan. Anil took all the 10 wickets in Pakistan’s second innings in the second Test of the series in 1999 and thereby helping India to level the series. He also becomes the second player after England’s Jim Laker to achieve the milestone. Here is the video shared by the BCCI:

Kumble played 132 Tests and 271 ODIs for Indian before deciding to hang his boots in 2008. He took 619 Test wickets as well. Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (800) leads the chart while Australian legend Shane Warne is second with 708 Test wickets. Kumble’s ‘all-ten’ performance in 1999 remains one of his career highlights.

In the limited-overs format, Anil Kumble has 337 ODI wickets and 57 T20 wickets.
Kumble was appointed as India coach in 2016 but his tenure lasted for almost 10 months as it ended because of his rift with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Under Kumble’s guidance, India won 10 out of the 13 home Tests with two draws and a single defeat against Australia. India also won a Test series comprehensively in the West Indies.
