The 32-year-old Pakistan leg-spinner recently returned to the ODI format after almost two years later, when Pakistan had a tour in Zimbabwe in this July. While Shah played two ODIs during the Zimbabwe tour, he managed to take only one wicket in the overall of that tour.

Making his international debut in September 2011, Shah has played 19 ODIs and has picked up 19 wickets with an unimpressive average of 42.47. However, his best ODI bowling performance is 9-0-26-6 against Zimbabwe at Harare on October 1, 2015.

Shah has played only one match in the ICC World Cup history and that was against India at Adelaide in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup (on 15 February 2015), where he finished with the bowling figure of 8-0-60-0.

While Shah is serious about his ODI future as he wants to grab a permanent spot in the Pakistan ODI squad, he is eyeing to play the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England that will begin on May 30, 2019. With this intention, Shah is playing the List A games in domestic cricket.

Recently, Shah told Sky Sports, “ODI cricket is something I take seriously and is one format for which I would like to make a comeback for Pakistan in the future.

“I have been participating in one-day games in domestic cricket, with the intention of proving my capabilities in this form of cricket so that I can make a comeback and possibly put myself in contention for a spot in Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup squad.”

As the 20-year-old leg-spinner Shadab Khan is doing a great job in the recent ODIs, since his ODI debut in April 2017, Shah is facing a very tough fight to fulfil his dream. Playing 26 ODIs already, Shadab has taken 37 wickets with the average of 26.70.
