In the reply of Team India’s 321/6, Windies managed to score 321/7 (50 overs), thanks to Shai Hope’s last-ball boundary. In the humdinger second ODI encounter, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss. Both the Indian openers were dismissed before 9th over, but with the help of humungous century by the skipper, India reached a winning total.
After the early blows, Kohli along with Ambati Rayudu stitched a 100+ runs partnership and the former scored his 37th ODI century and in the meantime, he also became the first batsman in terms of innings to surpass the landmark of 10,000 ODI runs and helped the Indian team to put 321/6 on the board at the end of 50 overs.

In reply, Windies had a fine start but most of the top-orders failed to carry on their innings as they were down to 78/3 after 12 overs. Then comes up the fourth-wicket partnership between Hope and Shimron Hetmyer, where it ran for 143 runs. Hetmyer played a brilliant knock of 94 runs off just 64 balls, but was dismissed in the 32nd over. However, Hope continued his innings till the end as he completed his second ODI century in 113 balls and led the game for the thrilling final over, which was bowled by Umesh Yadav and the Windies needed 14 runs off it.
Here is what transpired in the final over:
First Ball – Yadav bowled a full-fledged yorker to hope on the off stump and the batsman took a single by jamming the bat down to bring Ashley Nurse on strike and the Windies needed 13 off the last 5.
Second Ball – Umesh again bowled a reverse swinging yorker to Nurse which turned into a full toss and the ball hit on the back leg of the batsman only to go for a boundary towards the third man.
Third Ball – Yadav bowled another yorker on the leg stump to Nurse, who worked it away to deep midwicket for a couple and Windies needed 7 off the last 3 after scoring 7 off the first 3.
Fourth Ball – Umesh attempted to bowl near blockhole to Nurse, who played a scoop shot towards the third man only to be caught be Rayudu, who held a high-pressure catch. Umesh’s pace forced the batsman to play a dinky shot like that and he lost his wicket. However, the only good news was that Hope came back on strike. Now, the visitors needed 6 off the last two balls.
Fifth Ball – Yadav bowled a low full toss to hope who swung his bat to take a couple at deep midwicket. Two runs meant that Hope was back on strike for the final ball when the Windies needed 5 runs to win and 4 for a tie. Kohli made a strange change in the field before the final bowl as he decided to bring the third man up and pushed point back for a wide yorker.
Last Ball – As expected Umesh attempted a wide yorker but ended up bowling a full delivery outside off to Hope, who carved the ball towards the point boundary where Rayudu was inches away from saving the four. Surprisingly, the humdinger of a game resulted in a tie and it was a second tie for the men in blue in last one month.
