The young and talented Indian left-arm fast bowler Arjun Tendulkar has claimed five wickets for Mumbai Under-19s in the 2018-19 Cooch Behar Trophy against hosts Delhi U-19s at the Feroz Shah Kotla. He is also the son of the legendary Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar and that sometime become an added responsibility for him. triggered a middle-order collapse of seven wickets for 72 runs on Wednesday as Delhi fell from 274/2 to 346/9.
Tendulkar Jr. was going wicketless with the new ball but roared back as the innings progressed. Thanks to centuries to Gagan Vats (100) and Priyansh Arya (152) Delhi were well placed to get near Mumbai’s first-innings total of 453, reaching 274/2 until Arjun had the skipper Ayush Badoni for 20 in the 78th over.

In his next over, Arjun dismissed Vaibhav Kandpal for 5 and then added Gulzar Sandhu and Hrithik Shokeen in successive balls to be on a hat-trick. The milestone was not, but Arjun bowled tailender Prashant Bhati for his fifth wicket. At the end of the day, Arjun had figures of 29-4-98-5.
Earlier, Mumbai U-19s made 453 with opener Divyaansh scoring 211. Last month, Arjun helped Mumbai U-19s beat Gujarat in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy with 5/30. He grabbed a lot of eyeballs in July when he played his first Youth Test for India U-19s in Sri Lanka. He played both four-day matches and took three wickets while scoring 0 and 14.
The U-19 tournament will be an opportunity for Arjun to find a spot in the Mumbai senior team in the ongoing season. Arjun has recently seen bowling to the Indian team at the nets before the second Test at Lord’s. He has even witnessed the ground staff when rain intervened in the game and selling radios outside the stadium which earned him praise from a veteran cricketer like Harbhajan Singh.
